SaaS Development Company.
Multi-tenant SaaS platforms built for scale: billing, roles, onboarding, analytics and AI features, from MVP to a product your team can run.
SaaS development is building software that many customers use on shared infrastructure, each seeing only their own data, and paying on a recurring basis. EqualPixels builds SaaS platforms from first release to scale, including the parts founders underestimate: tenancy, billing, roles, onboarding and analytics.
What does a SaaS build actually involve?
The feature list is the easy part. What separates a SaaS product from a web app is the plumbing underneath it, and getting that wrong is expensive to unwind later.
| Layer | What it covers | Why it bites later |
|---|---|---|
| Multi-tenancy | Data isolation per customer | Retrofitting isolation means rewriting every query |
| Authentication | SSO, SAML, invitations, MFA | Enterprise deals stall without SSO |
| Roles and permissions | Org, team and record-level access | Bolted-on permissions leak data |
| Billing | Plans, trials, proration, dunning, tax | Revenue leaks quietly for months |
| Onboarding | Activation flow, sample data, checklists | Determines trial conversion more than features |
| Analytics | Product usage, cohorts, churn signals | Without it you are guessing what to build |
| Admin tooling | Impersonation, support, feature flags | Support becomes engineering time |
For the tenancy, identity and isolation choices, we follow the patterns in the AWS Well-Architected SaaS Lens, whichever cloud you run on.
What SaaS development services do we offer?
- SaaS MVP development
- for founders taking a first version to market
- Full platform build
- including tenancy, billing, roles, admin and analytics
- Rebuild and re-architecture
- for products that outgrew their original stack
- AI features inside SaaS
- assistants, summarisation, natural language search, agentic workflows
- Scale and cost engineering
- query optimisation, caching, background jobs, infrastructure cost reduction
- Ongoing product engineering
- as an embedded team once you are live
How do we build a SaaS product?
- Narrow the first releaseOne customer segment, one workflow, done well. Breadth kills first releases.
- Design the data model for tenancy from day oneThis is the one decision that is genuinely hard to change later.
- Ship weeklyStaging, then production, with real users from early on.
- Instrument before launchIf you cannot see activation and retention on day one, you will not learn from launch.
- HardenRate limits, audit logs, backups tested by restoring them, and a security review before you sell to anyone serious.
How do you build an AI SaaS product?
An AI SaaS product is a multi-tenant platform where language models do part of the work for each customer, metered and governed like any other feature. We build and run several of our own, so the hard parts are familiar:
- Provider choice per feature
- Each AI feature gets its own provider and model (OpenAI, Anthropic Claude, Gemini or an open model), set by an admin rather than hard-coded, so you can switch when prices or quality change.
- Metering and credits
- AI work costs money per call. Plans carry credits or limits, and usage is recorded per tenant so margins stay visible.
- Tenant-safe retrieval
- Embeddings in PostgreSQL with pgvector, scoped to the tenant, so one customer’s documents never ground another customer’s answer.
- Evals and guardrails
- Test sets for each prompt, structured outputs, and fallbacks between providers, so a model update does not quietly break a feature.
Prozilio, for example, writes proposals with admin-configured AI agents and meters them in credits; Quevix drafts social posts from a prompt across eight model providers through the Laravel AI SDK.
How much does it cost to build a SaaS product?
SaaS builds with us typically start at $25,000 for a focused first release, and full platforms with enterprise features cost more. We stage the investment: a narrow first release, then the next stage scoped from what real customers did.
What moves the price:
- The number of user roles and how fine-grained permissions need to be
- Enterprise features at launch: SSO, SAML, audit logs, data residency
- Billing complexity: trials, seats, usage-based pricing, tax
- AI features and the evaluation work behind them
- Integrations with the tools your customers already use
Which tech stack do we use for SaaS development?
Next.js and React on the front end; Node, NestJS or Laravel on the backend; PostgreSQL; Redis; Stripe or Paddle for billing; AWS, Google Cloud or Vercel; with observability through Sentry and your choice of product analytics.
Our own products show the pattern: Quevix, Prozilio and Odobase run on Laravel with React through Inertia.js and PostgreSQL, and Agenso runs on Django with Celery. For billing we build on Stripe Billing, Paddle or Polar, depending on where you sell and who handles sales tax.

How much does it cost to build a SaaS product?
A focused first release typically starts at $25,000. Cost is driven by the number of user roles, whether you need enterprise features such as SSO and audit logs at launch, billing complexity and any AI features. We recommend staging the investment rather than scoping everything up front.
How long does it take to launch?
A focused SaaS MVP typically takes eight to twelve weeks to build. A platform with enterprise authentication, complex permissions and multiple integrations is usually six to nine months.
Should we build an MVP first or the full product?
MVP, almost always. Not a worse product, a narrower one. The purpose is to learn which parts of your assumption were wrong while it is still cheap to change your mind.
Can you take over an existing codebase?
Yes. We start with a paid audit covering architecture, security, test coverage and cost, and give you an honest recommendation on whether to continue, refactor or rebuild, including when the answer is that your current team should keep it.
Do we own the code?
Yes. Everything lives in your repositories and your cloud accounts from the first commit.
Can you add AI to our existing SaaS?
Yes, and it is usually the highest-return work available to an existing product: search that understands intent, summaries of long records, drafting assistance, and agents that complete multi-step tasks inside the product your customers already use.
What is multi-tenant SaaS architecture?
Multi-tenant architecture means one running application serves many customers, with each customer’s data kept separate by the data model, a separate schema or a separate database. It keeps hosting and releases simple, but the isolation has to be designed in from the first table, because retrofitting it means rewriting every query.
