Driver app

Odobase Driver App.

Odobase Driver is the free Android and iPhone app for fleet drivers: PIN sign-in, assigned trips, odometer readings, receipts and trip alerts.

Odobase Driver is the free mobile app that drivers use to run their work in Odobase, on Android and iPhone. A driver signs in with a phone number and a 4-digit PIN, sees the trips assigned to them, starts and completes each one with an odometer reading, and logs fuel, tolls and parking with a photo of the receipt.

The office never retypes any of it. Every reading, expense and route point lands on the trip record in the Odobase dashboard, where it feeds dispatch, the live map and the invoice.

Who the app is for

The app is for the drivers employed by a company that runs Odobase: car rental and vehicle hire firms, chauffeur and limousine services, tour operators and corporate employee transport. Dispatchers, accounts and fleet managers do not use the app. They work in the Odobase web dashboard, in any browser, where they add drivers, assign trips and see what the app reports back.

Running a trip from the phone

  • A short, clear trip list

Upcoming, running and past trips in one list. A paused round trip is pinned to the top, and a recurring duty shows only its next occurrence instead of filling the screen with repeats.

  • Odometer readings at every step

The driver enters a reading to start, pause, resume and complete a trip, so the distance on the invoice comes from the vehicle rather than an estimate.

  • Expenses with receipts

Fuel, tolls, parking and other costs are recorded against the trip they belong to, each with a photo of the receipt taken on the spot.

  • Maintenance jobs and weekly totals

Drivers close a garage or service-centre visit with a photo of the invoice, and can check their trips completed, distance driven and expenses logged over the last seven days.

Sign-in and driver access

There is no sign-up screen. The company adds a driver by phone number in the dashboard, and the driver signs in with that number and a 4-digit PIN. The office can generate the first PIN and read it out, or the driver sets one with a code sent over WhatsApp, which is also how a forgotten PIN is reset.

  • A new phone needs only the same number and PIN, and trip alerts follow the driver to it.
  • When a driver leaves, their session for that company is revoked and they can no longer see its trips.
  • The login belongs to the driver, so another Odobase customer can later add them by the same number. A driver works for one company at a time.

Location and privacy

The app records location only while a trip is running. It takes the phone’s position roughly every 30 seconds and sends it to Odobase about once a minute, which draws the route on the trip’s live map next to the planned route and the odometer readings. Android shows a notification for as long as recording is on, and iPhone shows its location indicator. Recording stops when the trip is completed, and there are no ads.

The details are in the Odobase driver app privacy policy.

Trip alerts in the driver’s language

A push notification arrives when a trip or a maintenance job is assigned, when a recurring duty is set up for the driver, and when a trip is cancelled. Each alert is written in the language set on the driver’s own app, so a dispatcher working in English does not force English on a driver who reads Urdu.

Getting the app

Odobase Driver is free on Google Play and the App Store, and it is included with every Odobase plan, from the free Starter plan up. The plan’s driver limit sets how many drivers a company can add. To set up the dashboard, visit odobase.com.

EqualPixels designs, builds and supports both the app and the platform behind it. Read more about Odobase and our mobile app development work.

Frequently asked questions

Still have questions? Write to us at [email protected]

Is the Odobase driver app free?

Yes, Odobase Driver is free to download from Google Play and the App Store, and it is included with every Odobase plan, including the free Starter plan. What the plan controls is the number of drivers a company can add, not access to the app or any of its features.

Is there an iPhone version of the Odobase driver app?

Yes, Odobase Driver is on the App Store for iPhone as well as on Google Play for Android. Both versions sign in the same way and run trips the same way, and the office side of Odobase runs in a web browser on any computer, so no one needs a particular phone or laptop.

Does the driver app track drivers all the time?

No, the app records location only while a trip is running, roughly every 30 seconds, and stops when the trip is completed. The phone shows that recording is on the whole time, as a notification on Android and the location indicator on iPhone, and nothing is recorded between trips.

How does a driver sign in to Odobase Driver?

With their phone number and a 4-digit PIN, after the company has added them in the Odobase dashboard. The office can generate the first PIN, or the driver sets one using a code sent over WhatsApp. There is no sign-up screen, so only drivers a company has added can get in.

What happens to a driver’s access when they leave the company?

Their app session for that company is revoked as soon as the company ends their employment, so they can no longer see its trips. The login itself belongs to the driver, so if another Odobase customer adds them later by the same phone number, they keep signing in with the same PIN.
